Tuscany, Italy - Red Wine - Cabernet Franc - Biodynamic - Full Body

Ampeleia is the winery's main cuvée, made of Cabernet Franc— grown on the vineyard Rocca, whose soil is composed of a mixture of schist, palombini limestone, and clay. From there, you can see the iconic islands of Giglio and, on clear days, as far as Elba and even Corsica.


The wine impresses with its dense and compact texture. The nose expresses notes of plums, dark cherries, dried oregano, bay leaves, earth, tomato leaves, bark, and wet stones. It is poised and layered with finely grained tannins giving so much texture and flesh. The wine is so satisfying with the character of the cabernet franc, offering intensity and vitality while preserving great freshness with bright acidity. Balanced and highly focused with its lingering finish.


Ampeleia is a serious project from renowned winemaker Elisabetta Foradori, who transplanted the biodynamic winemaking processes of her family’s estate in Trentino to Tuscany, where she has partnered with Marco Tait in pursuing the same biodynamic philosophy, tailoring it to the Tuscan ecosystem.

Ampeleia loves grilled meats, game, cold cuts - think parma ham, Cecina - tangy sauces and meat stews.

Serving tips

Serve out of the fridge at around 8-10 degrees and let it warm up in the glass.


You want it to reach its peak 7-10 years after its vintage. Decant for 30 minutes when young, seven years seems to offer a more poised, polished wine that is enjoyable immediately.
